When a busy professional couple approached us to transform their Brooklyn residence, they had one goal in mind: to create a serene, minimalist space that would serve as a peaceful retreat from their hectic city lives.
They envisioned a home where they could unwind, host friends, and enjoy moments of quiet reflection. Our team embraced this vision, crafting a space that blends urban sophistication with natural tranquillity.
The site was exposed to harsh coastal weather and had limited direct sunlight for much of the year. The clients wanted the space to feel open, but also cocooned and warm. Maximising views while ensuring privacy from nearby walking trails was critical.
We minimised visual clutter, worked exclusively with a neutral palette, and integrated panoramic glazing to bring in ocean light. Every element — from the raw oak cabinetry to linen-covered walls — was chosen to absorb silence and reflect stillness.
We used deep window sills, textured plaster, and soft timber to add warmth to the cool Nordic palette. The layout was kept minimal but layered with subtle depth through material contrast.
